A photo of the Dutch door in the kitchen wing (third addition) taken in 1934. The knocker latch with heart escutcheon that I posted earlier is on the outside of this door. This door I believe was moved from the front wall of the house at the time this wing was put on the building. Reason for my assumption is the the opening always was protected from the elements by a roof. A sweeping porch roof protected the door and original shingles still exist covered by this roof. The door frame and door are quite weathered and I think that logic tells me that it was indeed moved from another location. In the front wall of the first addition there is a ghost of a doorway in the stonework. It is possible this is the door that was in the front wall.
